🌞 Bhore Engineering Consultancy Powers India’s Longest Bridge with Solar – Dr. Vivek Bhore Renurao Leads Sustainable Breakthrough

Date: July 2025
Location: Tinsukia, Assam / Nagpur

Bhore Engineering Consultancy is proud to announce the successful publication of a pioneering technical paper in the prestigious Indian Highways Journal (IRC, June 2025 Edition) titled:

“GRID CONNECTED SOLAR POWER GENERATION SYSTEM USED FOR ILLUMINATION OF DR. BHUPEN HAZARIKA SETU (DHOLA-SADIYA BRIDGE) – A Sustainable Clean Green Energy Solution with Zero Carbon Footprint”

This acclaimed paper features the expert contributions of Dr. Vivek Bhore Renurao, a senior solar energy consultant and technical lead from Bhore Engineering Consultancy, alongside co-authors Shri Raj Chakrabarty, Shri Devapradatta Nath, and Shri Pranjal Kataky of the Assam Public Works Department (PWD).

🧠 Dr. Vivek Bhore’s Role & Contribution

As a solar energy designer and consultant, Dr. Bhore spearheaded the technical modeling, engineering design, and optimization of the 700 kWp grid-connected solar power plant. His guidance was critical in the selection of:

  • Mono-crystalline solar modules (545 Wp)

  • Advanced inverter systems (8 x 80 kW units)

  • Plant layout & energy efficiency modeling

  • Smart monitoring systems

  • Loss mitigation & performance enhancement strategies

He also championed the Net-Zero Carbon Footprint vision, ensuring the bridge lighting consumes no fossil-based energy and has near-zero operating costs post-installation…..read more

City engineer pitches for reuse of discarded solar panels:

The news highlights Dr. Vivek Bhore’s innovative concept of reutilizing discarded solar panels to address their disposal issue. Dr. Bhore, who holds two doctorates in solar energy, demonstrates this by using a discarded panel as an office tabletop.

He advocates for a 100% reutilisation policy and suggests various reuse applications, such as:

  • Compartment walls
  • Roof-sheets for cooling
  • Cantilevers, parking sheds, and low-cost housing.

Dr. Bhore stresses that direct reuse is superior to recycling/processing, which requires high energy and generates waste. He calculates that reusing a panel as a tabletop costs only about $\text{Rs. } 600$, compared to $\text{Rs. } 2,000$ for a glass one, demonstrating the economic viability of the concept.

He also proposes that commercial buildings should be mandated to use discarded panels for at least 10% of their material and suggests using them instead of glass in construction (like in Nagpur where the National Building Code allows $60\%$ coverage) to reduce heat gain and, consequently, lower energy consumption from air conditioning. This strategy is presented as a key way to contribute to a circular economy.

Bhore Engineering Consultants Initiative at Tadoba:

Bhore Engineering Consultants, in collaboration with a group of wildlife enthusiasts from Nagpur, contributed to the installation of solar-powered automated water pump systems in the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, Chandrapur.
This sustainable initiative ensures continuous water availability for wildlife during dry seasons by refilling natural waterholes using solar energy. The eco-friendly system operates automatically from sunrise to sunset, minimizing human intervention and supporting wildlife conservation through green technology.
